Here we are, the week is draw to close, and all de sport delegations coming from EUROPE could discover the beauty and charms of our country in spite of the fact that several competitions have spangled different points of the territory.
Dear friends, coming from elsewhere, you should know the Guadeloupe was happy to receive you and have done her best to let your stay the most agreeable possible, concerning all levels accommodation, transport, and the sites of competitions.
We are telling you thank you to be here, to have trusted on our organisation potentiality. you are and will stay the guadeloupeans hart. For the first time in the history,the island games are organised at the gates of United States of America. They get enriched in significant run.we wish that they continue to grow up and to evaluate for the big advantage of the sport and the children whom take part.
This sport which ties up and makes a link between persons beyond all the contingencies. I hope that you will get from your journey in this land of GUADELOUPE an agreeable and undying memory. Thanks to everybody.

THE PRESIDENT OF THE ORGANISATION COMMITTEE OF 2008 ISLAND GAMES IN THE GUADELOUPE

Sicily won yesterday in the boys team, and thanks to the GUADELOUPE, the tennis teams competition concerning a hard double which gave light and a beautiful concordance to the Italian formation.
A number one is French from his age category,CEDRIC COMMIN didn’t let a simple doubt concerning the first simple, won in two sets. A victory which if it allows to the author to be the first in the individual classification, will be at the end not worth while, the Sicilians changed after their way of playing during the second simple and then de double.

About the girls, less of densities during their exchanges, but their matches were more fervent. On the first step of the podium, we find the CANARIES, so that the SARDAIGNE win the silver medal and the GUADELOUPE a nice bronze medal, after a half final on Tuesday which take eight hours playing in the courts! The tennis competitions have done for the official programme ,a final point to this 12 th island games edition;before that all the delegations could met each other in the evening in the stade of the ABYMES for a closing ceremony full of colours.

One 12 th edition was greeted by every body for the higher quality of organisation, the good work done by the CROJI MEMBERS and beyond this the warm accommodation for the participants. Finally we could say that it is a very nice edition which we hope will be an example for our friends of ELBE island who will receive the event for the next year. Good return to every body and good live to the sport.

Every day during the island games During their stay, the athletes, coaches, referees, volonteers, journalists, found every morning in their hotels or in the sports sites a newspaper of a big quality. This newspaper was edited and printed every night, and contained interviews and results of the day before.
Severals photos and above the central poster which embellished the newsaper,have a lot of success. A big thanks to the whole team for her entire work done with competency and abnegation.

In the most of the officials disciplines, the competitions have been finished yesterday, sometimes late like for the athletisme and swimming.

About sailing,the representatives of CANARIES have leaved only a few pieces of cake to their adversaries.the situation is equal for both: girls(SONIA ARANA-CURBERO and PILAR CABA-HERNANDEZ) and boys(LUIS BENITEZ-INGLOTT and MARIO SUAREZ-RAMIREZ),indeed the Spanish have succeeded to the double. Beautiful performance for the young ANTOINE LEFORT,who offers to the GUADELOUPE her first medal in the sport!
Concerning the judo,in the aula LAURA FLESSEL still whisper the performances of SICILY and CORSE,each one have reached four new podiums,in the mean time,the delegations from MARTINIQUE,CHYPRIOTE,and SARDEGNA were glad having their gold medals,who are L.FARDIN,P.EVEMENIOS and D.MELE.
The sport palace of BASSE TERRE, have been the theatre of real razzia done by MADERE, with the amazing tripled work done by MARIA XIAO, who win the simple woman,the double female and the mixed double. nothing only that….
From the side of VIEUX HABITANTS,the athletes again gave amazing aspectacle,the ones from MADERE and SARDAIGNE joined the first places. We should take note, that the performance of the Sicilian GATTUSO who win the high jumping exam with the 1.96 jump. Finally, in the BASSIN DUGAZON, SARDES and SICILIENS divided the honours, they attended both 200 m butterfly swimming and 100 back and 200 brasse.

Today , the last day for the tennis, before the closing ceremony,in the abymes;which will allows to the athletes to be together in an enjoyable atmosphere.

A great thank to our partners of these 12th Islands Games, who contribued to this succesful and wonderful sport event.

After they won yesterday the fourth victory, this time in front of the Sicily, the guadeloupeans handball participants were more than ever secure of their capacities and could at one condition win towards MAYOTTE this morning, then they could be classified on high pole from the year 2009. A high pole which is dominated by the MARTINIQUE, who worked really hard against CANARIES(37-36).

Always in co sports; MADER and ACORES won their match in volleyball (low pole), in the mean time that the guadeloupeans did the same work.
About the judo, the spectacle concerning the individuals competitions was at the appointment; with intense an unusual intensity. Participants from CORSE, SICILY and GUADELOUPE have taken the biggest lion part.
About sailing, they were advanced by CANARIES on the regattas 6 and 7 and the first place was given to LUIS BENITEZ IGLOT and SONIA ARANA CURBELO, both well gone to obtain the gold medal.
On the a very high piste of VIEUX-HABITANT,the second day of athletics competition have reached again a very incredible performances. at the new record image done by MORGAN JUSTINE concerning the triple male jumping.

Concerning the tennis table, the SARDAIGNE, in double like in simple,continue to dominate the fights, but we should be little bite patient until this afternoon in order to know who between the gymnastics participants will write his name on the boards of 12 th island games.
Less stress, in the other side, concerning the disciplines in demonstration, indeed about surfing or beachvolley, it seems to us being late to find the good cruise rythme…..but for the velodrome, the cycling on lane offers to the few supporters the occasion to be fervent, with a good fast proofs of speed of high level.

We could not change the ruts and the tradition of island games, after a nice morning competition rich of records, the discovering of the Guadeloupe starts.
It is in all senses that the ballet of our buses start moving in all directions in the whole territory. It is with a great joy that our young visitors could discover a several sites such famous for their beauty and enscent charm : A POINTE DES CHATEAUX in SAINT-FRANCOIS, LA CASCADE DES ECREVISSES and the forest house of PETIT-BOURG, LA PORTE D'ENFER, LA POINTE DE LA GRANDE VIGIE, and the disvering of the MANGROVE if we don't mention other places ! All those sport participants discovered our history and noticed the different landscapes of our beautiful island.
The eyes full of memories, all this smal world reached their hotels to spend a nice sleeping night, waiting for the competitions for the day after.

Nothing seems impossible, indead! in both places, in the swimming pool DUGAZON at the ABYMES where the swimmers have done a really big efforts, of at the LAURA FLESSEL room DE PETIT BOURG,with the judo participants who they competed yesterday , and also without any trouble of forgetting the others at the sports palace of BASSE TERRE, theatre of jutes in tennis table.

The whole participants to those 12th islands games have clearly given the best of themselves. Concerning the canareans participants of the volley who are in the high pole and for the segound match, have done a big impression toward SARDAIGNA, Being so efficient in defence and so strong in the reception. Beautiful performance also for the boys and girls of MADERE,engaged en the tennis table, with two gold medals however it was already known by the specialists, it tell us a lot over the potentiality of theses young Spanish participants. On the tatamis, the participants from MARTINIQUE, who reached the high step of the podium toward the ones from Sicily, concerning the groups competitions, but the guadeloupeans participants were so disappointed to miss the half of the finale, they got however a nice bronze medal. Concerning the matches of tennis at BAS DU FORT they where in good level which amazed the audience.

Finally the real show was the one offered by the swimmers, with two records done by the sarde participant LAURA VACCA(over 50 m and 200m per 4 swimming) also by the guadeloupeans who where efficient reaching already seven podiums.

Here we are, the big day is here, the Guadeloupe (the ground of champions) receives the 12 th islands games, and wishing the welcome to every single begginner champion who particips in this island. Sinds 9. Am in the morning the delegations arrive to the airport in Point à Pitre.
More than 1200 persons to take in charge for the accreditation cards which have made a very efficient informatical system to make data registrations. The gold palm, without doubt is to give to MAYOTTE Island who did without fault.
Thanks to 13 desks and a big regiment of good benevolents, this operation has been done in good therms, in a short while and every body has joined his hotel waiting the day after.
The Guadeloupe is wishing you the welkom. Let’s the fairplay and the good mood win on these islands games!

Opening ceremony of the 25th of May in live from 4pm to 6pm. The athletics finals in live too the 29th of May between 5pm and 8pm.

You are welcome at the opening ceremony of « Jeux des îles 2008”, at the Stadium of Baie-Mahault, on Sunday, the 25th of May 2008, from 4pm to 7pm.

The entrance is free, limited to the places available. During the ceremony, you will assist at the parade of the 25 guests delegations, and the fastious choregraphy of Jacqueline Cachemire from “l’AKADEMI DU KA”

2008's Guadeloupe game will be marked by a technological advance unprecedented. In fact, for the first time of it long history, the athletes, their leaders, and the official delegation members registrations, so do their accreditation cards will be made on line.
The intention list will be know soon for the games participation, and in the beginning of May the differents countries will make the name registration online.
The modality will de provided in the beginning of april.
