The word of the president
History is full of examples of the spirit of conquest that drives the inhabitants or this planet.
Beyond the conflict of war, sport has become one of the most popular ways in which man seeks to measure himself against others in a friendly fashion.
Since the beginning of time, sport has shown that it is universal in nature and has no frontiers. The Olympic Games are perhaps the best illustration of this fact.
In this same spirit, travel, discovery and sharing are at the root of the Island Games. The Island Games are meant to prepare young islanders for the future jousts which punctuate human existence while helping the cultures of each to evolve and grow.
Thus, in 1997 in Corsica, the idea of the Island Games was born. Neighboring islands quickly joined in.
Since then, the Games have continued to grow. The Mediterranean, Tyrolean, and Adriatic Seas, the English Channel, and the Atlantic and Indian Oceans have not hesitated to lend a bit of their land in order that they may also participate in this international event.
Everywhere, the Games have been a true incentive, not only for the young athletes, but also for those who coach them, strongly encouraged by the passion and imitation of these eager youth by the means or their accomplishments and new relationships.
What better way to seal a solid and sincere brotherhood called to represent the future of Europe ?
In order to not remain on the fringes of history, Guadeloupe is not insensitive to this momentum. From this moment on, amid hope and joy, starting tomorrow, Guadeloupe will be a large theater of sport.
Unanimously, Guadeloupe deserves a large, warm bravo !
